It Works Stress Less Research

Sensoril Ashwagandha

ABSTRACT:
Can Sensoril® relieve symptoms of stress?  Sensoril®(a standardized extract of Withania somnifera, common name ashwagandha)

METHOD:
Sensoril study designed as a double-blind, randomized, and placebo-controlled experiment on 130 chronically stressed human subjects. Participants received Sensoril or a placebo. The participants' stress levels were assessed at baseline, 30 and 60 days after supplementation.
  • Sensoril dosage: 125 mg once day, 125 mg twice daily, 250 mg twice daily, or a placebo for 60 days.
CONCLUSION:
Compared to the placebo, those receiving Sensoril saw substantial decreases in stress levels.  The Hamilton Anxiety Scale test was used to determine stress levels as well as cortisol levels, inflammation, pulse rates and blood pressure.  The Sensoril group noticed less weariness, headache, muscular discomfort, insomnia, forgetfulness, worry, and frustration than the placebo group. In addition, their appetite and focus improved. There were no serious side effects reported.

L-Theanine

According to research, L-theanine may have a variety of health benefits, including improved mental focus and improved sleep quality.   L-theanine is a type of amino acid not produced by the human body.  L-theanine supplementation can impact serotonin and dopamine levels in the brain resulting in improvements in mood, sleep and emotions, as well as lowering cortisol levels and reducing stress responses (1).

Benefits :
  • better mental focus
  • improved sleep
  • relaxation
  • increased cognitive performance
  • weight loss
  • boosting the immune system
  • reducing blood pressure

Lemon Balm Extract

In one research  study of adults with modest sleep issues, Lemon balm extract was given.  The study showed that 81% of those who took Lemon balm extract and valerian root slept far better than those who received a placebo.

In another placebo-controlled, double-blind trial, 18 healthy participants were given two separate single doses of standardized lemon balm extract (300 mg and 600 mg) or a placebo for seven days. The 600 mg dosage of lemon balm resulted in improved mood and heightened calmness and focus.

A 2004 study found that taking lemon balm eased the negative mood effects of laboratory-induced psychological stress. Participants who took lemon balm self-reported an increased sense of calmness and reduced feelings of alertness."
